This particular dynamic truly, truly, truly makes the entire second season for me. The disparity between innate talent and hardwork/drive. It was one touched upon in the first season I think (remnant of the Jason vs. Everyone else story), but I think it’s going to be a crux part of the second, which excites me to no end. It’s a theme that resonates with me. 

The show sets it up nicely for audiences to have an undeniable propensity for the martyrdom of the underdog who refuses to compromise his integrity and pride for the sake of the quote unquote success. But I feel like there’s undeniable affinity for the kid who—though he isn’t the underdog, traditionally speaking—you see that he gave up quite a bit to go the proverbial distance, ignoring the fact that there are those whocan try half as hard to get just as far. I’m basically gutted by both characters and I’m eating season 2 up by the spoonful *_* so many feelings. not to mention everything is so prettttyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and shiny and glossy and high quality.
